Tired of sitting on the wall waiting for Paul, Peter Dickybird return to the Brunswick Hotel on Saturday 3rd September to launch their debut recording The Yarnbomber EP.
Born from an egg on a mountain top, Mattybird was chilling in his soggy nest when a Tullycraftian tidal wave scooped him up and set him surfing towards the shores of the Ocean of Awesome. His nest was irresistibly cosy and eventually he found a non-migratory flock. They set about creating a birdsong for the ages.
Currently nesting are Ben (armed with only a Fender Precision Bass, a winning girly voice, and a persistence that would have had James Brown asking for little lie down), Jac (rescued from certain doom and born again with the ability to put a beat together) and Kate (an android they created to satisfy their every musical whim).
Combining the oh-so-Brunswick pastimes of live music and covering stuff with wool, Peter Dickybird won't fail to entertain with their four-part harmonising and songs about lampposts in legwarmers and the heady nostalgia of cycling. This bird can rock though, and rock they will. They're dreaming of The Kinks, taking tea with Tullycraft, and riffing with Ziggy Stardust. And now you can too.
They will be joined by a triptych of Melbourne's finest indie delights: The Belafontes (garage, soul and surf in a neat indie pop package), The Lovelies (a unique blend of lofi-grunge-pop-folk-indie-garage-alt-rock and good manners) and Al Paca & the Llama Farmers (an eclectic mix of blues rock, ska, country and more, razor sharp lyrics and funky rhythms, ensuring dancing is mandatory).
So grab your finest winter woollens and get ready to dance your blues away. The Yarnbomber EP launch is finally here and it's going to egg-ceed your wildest dream.
