Reel Tapes emerged from the depths of the Moonee Ponds creek a few years ago and have since developed an impressive sound and a rapidly expanding fan base. Imagine if Jack White had a jam with The Doors…that’s what Reel Tapes sound like.
After honing their skills at venues such as the Workers’ Club and the Tote, the band have chosen to record an EP of four of their most crowd-pleasing numbers; ‘Fat Stacks’, ‘Cold Outside’, ‘Turning Pages’ and ‘Underpants Charleston.’ This features music from the band’s entire career and showcases their versatility as songwriters and musicians.
If the recorded version of this feisty five-piece isn’t enough for you then be sure to make it to their official EP launch at the Brunswick Hotel on the 30th of June. Entry is absolutely free and bands will be playing from 8.00pm. Joining them will be the always-entertaining Blake Everett, quirky quintet The Fishheads and jazzy post-structuralist’s Blood Orange.
